I just love dropping fun facts on here, so here’s another one…
I did a very short stint in Public Relations (and when I say short, I mean short—blink and you’d miss it). But trust, I paid some dues.
It all started with a couple of internships, including one at a well-known lifestyle, fashion, and beauty PR firm, which later led to assistant roles for a few showrooms and publicists. And let me tell you—PR was not my thing. However, what I learned during that time has been invaluable, especially when it comes to personal branding and entrepreneurship.
Funny enough, there were things I absolutely dreaded doing in PR—endless follow-ups, crafting the perfect pitch, and waiting (and waiting) for responses. Every morning started with checking news sites for placements, scanning through media lists, and making sure no editor or journalist’s email got left behind—all part of the daily grind. It felt tedious, like so much pavement-pounding before seeing any real results. Sound familiar? Yep, the parallels to entrepreneurship are uncanny.
But looking back, I realize PR was an art. It taught me patience, diligence, and most importantly—the power of a well-crafted story. Whether it’s landing press, building a brand, or making meaningful connections, knowing how to frame the right narrative is everything.
So, shoutout to my short-lived PR era for the unexpected gems—ones that continue to serve me in ways I never anticipated.
Speaking of pitching, I’ve got something exciting coming up…
